Wedding Photos at Lartington Hall, Barnard Castle: Sophie & John
My first wedding of 2020 and it couldn’t have been a better start to the year! The very lovely Sophie & John tied the knot at the stunning Lartington Hall near Barnard Castle on 30th January.
I’ve known Sophie and her Mum for some years now as they too are involved in the wedding industry. Sophie runs the wedding venue ‘The Bivouac’ on the Swinton Park estate near Masham and also owns a birds of prey centre, whilst John works at the prestigious Grantley Hall. Sophie’s birds are often a feature at weddings for either dove releases or owl displays and they never fail to wow guests! Sophie & her bridesmaids told me on the wedding morning how she’d always wanted me to shoot her wedding even before she was engaged so, you could say the pressure was REALLY on for this one!
The day started off at the hall with Sophie and her girls getting all dolled up by the uber talented Megan Green hair and makeup artist later to be joined by wedding guests and the grooms party. The chapel used for the ceremonies at Lartington is just divine, I totally feel in love with it. It’s perfect for couple wanting that church feel but without the religious content. After the ‘I do’s’ and into the reception Sophie had a surprise for her guests, as a keen horsewoman she rode out on a velvety black Welsh pony looking like a scene straight out of a Bronte novel, I LOVED IT!!! And, of course, the owls made an appearance too!
The wedding breakfast with incredible food (both myself & my second shooter Emily were treated to mains & a pud!) were followed by heart felt speeches and then the band Four Shadows Theatre got the evening party started. What a wonderful wedding with some wonderful people, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Thank you Sophie & John for putting your faith in me to capture your big day!
