White Syke Fields
Yorkshire Wedding Barn Venue- The new kid on the block

The wedding barn venue trend is still going strong and with more and more farms converting their premises here’s the latest offering. This Yorkshire wedding barn venue is located in the pretty village of Sand Hutton on the outskirts of York.
July was their official launch and to celebrate they held an open afternoon event. I was invited to come along and capture all that happened. Always keen to make new contacts in the wedding industry I daytripped along with hubby and daughter in tow and had a very enjoyable family afternoon.
Down a long driveway the first thing that caught my attention was how clean the grounds were for a working farm, always a good sign in my eyes! Painted on the side of one outbuilding in huge lettering is ‘WSF’, there was no mistaking we’d arrived at White Syke Fields. With plenty of parking we pulled up and walked along the stone guided path to not one but TWO barns. This is what I think really makes WSF stand out from the rest of the wedding barn venues I’ve seen (you’ll be able to see the two different barns in my photos below). There is such a juxtaposition between them and I LOVED it! Let me tell you more…
The larger of the two barns is a more traditional farm building with red brick walls and a dark interior. It’s a huge space and a blank canvas for adapting to all sorts of wedding styling. The smaller of the two barns is so different, it’s light and airy, mainly due to it being painted white and flooded with natural light (great for photos people!). If I was to get married there I’d have my wedding ceremony in the white barn and then the breakfast and party in the big barn. That way there’s no waiting for a room to be ‘turned around’ and there would be a lovely flow to the day and change in settings to keep things interesting. The outdoor space is plenty with a large flat lawned area, a chicken coup (LOVED this!) and sufficient enough nooks and crannies for guests to have a nosey and pose for photos by. (Note for the ladies, for a farm venue it is surprising heel friendly!)
The wedding barn was dressed with current inspirational wedding decor pieces and a stunning table layout and floral wedding cake was in the white barn. Various talented wedding suppliers collaborated to help with the launch event and they’re all credited below. I hope the photos help give you a feel for the place, but I get a strong feeling I was just touching the edge of the iceberg with this venue, I pretty sure there’s photo opportunities galore just waiting to be discovered and I for one CANNOT wait to get my camera and a loved up couple in there to see what we can create!
